Detroit Electric has confirmed production for SP:01
Fastest electric car was confirmed for production. Detroit Electric, the American Company responsible with this model has confirmed that the new SP:01 will be built in the UK to be closer to the origin of the platform, taken from Lotus. The new electric model will be sold on the Europe, Asia and United States. The factory was established in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire.
Thanks to a body made of carbon fiber, total weights is only 1067 kilograms and, initially they have announced that the model will be equipped with 37 kWh batteries that will offer enough power for a total range of over 300 km. And, to confirm that we talking about the fastest electric model built in series, the new SP:01 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in just 3.7 seconds and can touch a maximum speed of 250 km / h.
But, Detroit Electric says, that the new model, compared with previous model presented, this one will have a new design to be approved for production. When they have presented, in the first half of last year, the prototype, they have confirmed the production inside of United States. If the future model will be a successful model, the American company will produce also a sedan and a four-seat super car, but these two will be built in Detroit.
