The most expensive car sold at an auction is a Ferrari 250 GTO

According to Bloomberg, the most expensive car in the world is a Ferrari 250 GTO which was sold at an auction for the amount of 35 million U.S. dollars. The car is a copy from 1962 and was built for legendary driver Stirling Moss.

The previous record was for a Ferrari 250 GTO model from 1964 sold with 32 million dollars and Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic in 2010 sold for 30 million dollars.

The copy that broke records has the chassis number 3505GT has competed in 1962 edition of the race the 24 Hours of Le Mans, but not final, and has few victories loaded into its past. The unit sold for the mention amount, has a unique color lime green and its price was assessed from year to year. Back in 1996 it was bought for 3.5 million dollars, ten years ago a Dutch businessman has bought the car for 8.5 million dollars and now the new owner is the collector Craig McCaw, who has made his fortune selling the giant telecommunications company AT & T in 1993, from which he won 11.5 billion dollars.
