Peugeot RCZ will receive a new generation in two years
The information was confirmed by the head of French car manufacturer thru the Telegraaf. So, future generation will be on the market in 2016, and will be built on the EMP2 modular platform of the current 308.
The RCZ model was launched back in 2009 and its future was actually uncertain, because of the old used platform, that was built for niche model that were not on the list that will receive some substitutes.
But, the officials have confirmed that the RCZ model will have a new generation in 2016, and this is a good news for fans of French coupe. The future model will be built on the modular platform EMP2 and certainly will present a lower fuel consumption and a reduced weight.
It is well known that the producing process of the RCZ model involves high cost, but the officials are optimistic, because the general plan is to promote Peugeot in the premium segment, while the Citroen to attract the customers who wants cars with low maintenance costs. Anyway, to assure its survival, both brands needs to obtain a high volume.
The new CEO, Carlos Tavares has come with a new strategy to return the company back to profit. Tha path involves, among the removal of unprofitable models range to expand on new markets, outside of Europe.
