Toyota GT 86 will be on the market in the summer of 2012

Japanese manufacturer come at Tokyo Motor Show, this year in December, with a new model, Toyota GT 86, a sport car with a boxer engine and rear wheel drive.

The car combines elements from the Subaru GT, technical platform and boxes engines, and from Toyota, the design and direct injection system. A low center of gravity and light weight are screened pets a high degree of agility and driving pleasure.

Under the hood of the Toyota GT 86 lies a four-cylinder Subaru Boxer engine, horizontally opposed pistons. The Boxer D-4S has a two-liter flat-six with 200 hp (147 kW), 6.600 rpm and a peak torque of 205 Nm. The compression ratio of the engine is 12.5. Toyota GT 68 has an optional six-speed automatic or a six-speed manual gearbox to the rear wheels, a limited slip differential provides the appropriate traction. To be more closed to a perfectly balanced athlete (53:47 percent) the car is based on a low weight and low center of gravity.

GT 68 has 4.24 meters long, 1.28 meters high, 1.77 meters width, and a 2.57 meters wheelbase and according to Toyota's officials the new GT 68 is smallest four-seat sports car in the world. Inside, is a wide center console that separates the two ranges and provides space for cup holders, hand brake lever and shift lever and the control for the air conditioning.

A big tachometer is the center of the instrument cluster. It should contribute to the sporty ambience applications in carbon-look, the black roof lining, red stitching in the seat cushions and aluminum pedals. The ABS and Vehicle Stability Control VSC were switched off, according to Toyota tuned so that a maximum dynamic range possible with minimal electronic intervention.

Externally, Toyota relies on a typical coupé look. The wings are strongly curved, the headlight design emphasizes aggressive. The grille should bring aggressiveness and sportiness expressed. Other design features include 17-inch alloy wheels, a rear spoiler, double exhaust pipe and the logo with the number 86 and the opposing pistons in a boxer engine. The graphic is a nod to bore and stroke of the boxer engine, which amount to 86 mm respectively.

The estimated price is around 30,000 € and the car will be on the European market in the summer of 2012.
